Soundtrack from the recent film about Romeo and Juliet with the camera sweeping the Italian Renaissance villas (wrong period of Italian history but very romantic) might be just a little too indulgent. Useful assembly on the Rich and Poor; especially around the time of a big celebrity event such as the film Oscars: 4th March 2018, on which this assembly is based, which clearly showcases the exclusive lifestyle of the Rich and Famous. Very topical this year with Harvey Winestein and Kevin Spacey’s public shaming still being very much in the Media Intro asking assembly pupils to look at photos of Spacey or Weinstein and identify the industry that has made them rich. You could go on to talk about why they have been in the news with older students. Or indeed a short news clip of the 2018 Oscars- see You Tube.
